GENDER PRACTICES OF KYIV

Analyzes the state and trends of social development in Kyiv in the area of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men, preventing and combating gender-based violence, and develops measures to address shortcomings.

Analyzes the state of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men in the relevant area (in the territory of Kyiv) by the executive body of the Kyiv City Council (Kyiv City State Administration), including by ordering statistical and analytical materials that allow to identify differences in the situation of different groups of women and men, as well as existing problems and needs (“gender portraits”).

Organizes the implementation of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and its Optional Protocol, the Beijing Platform for Action, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace, Security” and related UN Security Council resolutions, other international legal documents in the field of gender equality, the Gender Equality Strategy of the Council of Europe, the European Union, and the OSCE.

Organizes training events for employees of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council (Kyiv City State Administration), institutions and organizations on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

Provides advisory assistance to public associations in the field of gender equality and combating gender discrimination in the development of projects using city budget funds and their implementation; holds project competitions to implement programs and tasks of the department, initiates the creation of working and expert groups.

Takes measures to improve the forms and principles of social partnership of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council (Kyiv City State Administration) with public associations in the field of gender equality and combating discrimination in Kyiv.

It cooperates with public associations and international non-governmental organizations to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men, prevent and combat gender discrimination.

It organizes educational events, trainings, seminars, awareness raising and information and communication activities on gender equality, prevention and counteraction to gender discrimination.

Organizes research on gender issues and in the field of preventing and combating discrimination in Kyiv.
