A systematic and comprehensive analysis of statistical data has proven to be an effective tool for studying the living standards and quality of life of Kyiv residents. In collaboration with the Ukrainian Women's Fund and with the support of the NGO "La Strada-Ukraine," the Gender Profile of Kyiv was developed in 2024.

The research was based on annual reports from Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) structural divisions, data from the Kyiv City Employment Center, and statistical information from 2021, 2022, and 2023. Additionally, interviews with sectoral representatives of the 1325 Coalition and focus groups with NGOs were conducted. The collected data informed recommendations to improve service accessibility in various life domains for women and men, forming the basis for the Gender Action Plan for Kyiv.

The Gender Profile of Kyiv and the Action Plan are key tools for understanding the gender-specific aspects affecting community life and for planning the city’s development and/or recovery effectively.

The document accounts for specific needs, identifies key challenges, and offers solutions to socio-economic and demographic problems. It highlights issues such as economic changes—the impact of the war and migration on the city's economy, demographic shifts, and social problems.

The indicators and recommendations outlined in the document serve as a foundation for the development of local policies and programs aimed at enhancing the safety and well-being of the Kyiv community.

The Gender Action Plan, developed based on the analysis of the 2024 Gender Profile and its recommendations, outlines the primary areas of work for 2024–2025 to address the identified issues. It includes measures to prevent and combat gender-based violence and to improve the economic capacity of men and women in the Kyiv community.

The Gender Profile and Action Plan not only help to understand the specific challenges but also propose practical solutions that foster a resilient and equitable community amidst the war. Their implementation is a critical step toward the city's development.
