GENDER PRACTICES OF KYIV

"Electrician Courses for Women"

As part of the "VONA Hub" women's economic empowerment project, 18 women successfully completed the electrician training course. The participants included internally displaced women (IDPs), women who lost their jobs and wish to acquire new skills, women whose husbands were mobilized, single mothers, and women providing care for children or parents with disabilities.

The course included both theoretical and practical components. The theory was studied online, while the practical part took place with hands-on experience using appropriate equipment at the Training and Practical Center for Renewable Energy.

During the course, women learned to install and lay wiring, power grids, lighting circuits, install electrical panels, junction boxes, switches, outlets, and mount light fixtures. At the participants' request, the program also included a key element—working with renewable energy systems, including the installation and connection of solar energy systems.

The project was implemented through the initiative of the Gender Equality Department of the Social and Veterans Policy Department of Kyiv City State Administration in partnership with the Innovative Social Solutions NGO, with support from the UN Population Fund in Ukraine and financial assistance from the United States Government (BHA).
