Elderly people require special support during wartime, as it is often more difficult for them to take care of themselves. Anxiety and fear affect not only their emotional well-being but also their physical health.
The goal of the "Workshop of Optimism" project is to create a community of elderly women, where they can find like-minded individuals, gain new skills, develop their interests, and receive psychological and emotional support.
The "Workshop of Optimism" has become a platform for communication, self-expression, and revitalization. The program combines educational, therapeutic, and creative approaches to support elderly women during wartime, including: group meetings and thematic events, discussions on important life issues, organization of cultural activities and creative performances, helping participants feel engaged in social life.
The project’s participants include women aged 65+, including: internally displaced women, women with disabilities, elderly women living alone, mothers caring for their wounded children in Kyiv hospitals, women who have lost their sons or daughters in the war.
As part of this initiative, aimed at socializing elderly people affected by various conflicts, more than 200 women have received support.
The project is implemented by the Kyiv Women’s Union NGO, with the support of the Department of Social and Veterans Policy of the Kyiv City Administration.
