"Women of Kyiv: Influence and Leadership"

On the occasion of International Women's Day, March 8, an annual competition has been introduced to recognize the achievements and contributions of female leaders in Kyiv, aimed at increasing the role of women in the city’s public and community life.

Since 2006, at the initiative of women’s public organizations in Kyiv, the "Kyiv Woman of the Year" competition has been held, with 185 women nominated over the course of 15 years. These women have made significant contributions to the development of various areas of public life in the city, acting as informal leaders in different sectors and influencing the community.

During the full-scale invasion, the competition was rebranded as "Women of Kyiv: Influence and Leadership" at the initiative and with the support of public organizations. The goal of the competition is to highlight the role of women in responding to the challenges of war, their participation in decision-making, conflict prevention and resolution, humanitarian work, volunteering, security and defense, entrepreneurship, and other important initiatives for peace and the resilience of Kyiv's community.

On March 8, 2024, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko awarded 16 winners in six categories, including volunteers, social workers, community leaders, business owners, educators, entrepreneurs, and public administration representatives.
