GENDER PRACTICES OF KYIV

"Women's Volunteer Circle"

From the very first days of Russia’s aggression, the Kyiv City Organization of the All-Ukrainian Union of Ukrainian Women "Yavoryna" joined efforts to support Ukraine’s defenders.

Today, Yavoryna’s projects serve as a successful example of how patriotic women have continuously provided active volunteer support to Ukrainian soldiers and defenders:
- humanitarian aid to support Ukrainian military personnel, families of fallen and wounded soldiers, orphans, and women affected by the war;
- psychological support for women, ATO veterans, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and military families;
- assistance in social adaptation for ATO participants, their families, and other vulnerable groups;
- social rehabilitation and engagement of elderly people in active community life.

Through the "Weaving the History of Victory!" volunteer initiative, the organization involves military families, IDPs, and women who have lost loved ones in the war in weaving camouflage nets. This activity has a positive social impact—not only providing practical aid to soldiers but also symbolizing support and gratitude. To date, women volunteers have crafted 1,088 camouflage nets, 680 ghillie suits and covers, 979 trench candles, as well as helmet covers, knitted socks, and much more.

Lidiya Ushiy, Head of the Kyiv City Organization of the All-Ukrainian Union of Ukrainian Women "Yavoryna":

"Unity and mutual support are the key to our victory. That’s why we continue working and engaging women who are ready to help those holding the front line and everyone affected by the war."
